Back-to-School Nutty Buddy Crayons are a delightful and easy treat to welcome the new school year. Made from Little Debbie Nutty Buddy wafers, these colorful edible “crayons” are simple to assemble and make a fun surprise in lunch boxes or an after-school snack the kids will love.

You will need:

1 (12 oz.) box Little Debbie Nutty Buddy Wafers
Black edible markers
Red, Blue, Green and Yellow cookie icing (store-bought or homemade royal icing)
Directions for Nutty Buddy Crayons:
1. Start by trimming one end of a Nutty Buddy wafer into a pointed shape.

2. Then slice a small bit off the very tip so the end is flat, resembling the tip of a real crayon.

3. Pipe a small mound of colored icing onto the top of the wafer to form the “crayon” color. Allow the icing to dry completely—ideally overnight—so it holds its shape.

4. Use a black edible marker to draw an oval in the center of the wafer and fill it in. Add wavy lines or bands on each side of the oval to mimic the paper wrapper on a crayon.

5. Repeat with different colors until you have a full set. These make a bright, playful addition to a lunch box, a cute after-school treat, or a hands-on decorating activity for kids.

Nutty Buddy Crayons also work well as a teacher gift or as colorful cake decorations. Pair them with a grape jelly sandwich and a glass of milk for a nostalgic, kid-approved lunch.
