I’m excited to share our latest rain stick craft—they turned out beautifully! The colors are vibrant, the designs are fun, and they make a lovely sound when you tilt them.
Every spring at my daycare we make rain sticks, and children from toddlers up to eight-year-olds enjoy the whole process.
Rain sticks are simple to create using materials you probably already have at home. They’re highly customizable: paint them, color them with markers, or decorate with scraps of fabric, yarn, or colorful tape for a unique look.

For step-by-step instructions on making whimsical, colorful rain sticks, check out the CBC Parents feature that demonstrates our method and offers helpful tips for working with kids.
