Pick Your Mii and Win on Wii: Tips to Triumph

By now most people have heard of the Nintendo Wii. Before last Christmas I hadn’t seen one in person and I wasn’t a big gamer, so I didn’t think I needed one. Still, I knew the basics: you create Miis to represent players and you use a motion-sensitive remote to play games like bowling, golf, tennis, and boxing. The ads with people wildly waving remotes in front of the TV were familiar, even if I hadn’t tried it myself.

Then the Wii showed up everywhere in my life—my sister got one, my best friend got one, and my aunt won one at a party. Suddenly I was surrounded by animated versions of friends and family bowling and playing tennis. Curiosity won out; after a few days and five store visits, I finally bought one and joined the fun.

It really is addictive. On New Year’s Eve we bowled for nearly eight hours straight and couldn’t stop. If you’ve played it, you know exactly what I mean. My seven-year-old niece became the household champion with a high score of 254. I’m not seven, but I haven’t managed to beat her yet—and she likes to remind me of that.

We had such a great time that I decided to share the fun with a giveaway. One lucky reader will win a complete Wii package.

The Wii:
Includes the Wii console, Wii Remote, Nunchuk controller, a disc of sports games, and necessary cables.

Read on to learn how you can enter to win.

Below are some of the Miis I created on the Wii for this giveaway.

And here are some Mii-inspired cupcakes I made to celebrate the giveaway.

Entering is simple. Just follow the instructions below for a chance to win.

Pick Mii Out and Wii-n Giveaway:

  • To enter for a chance to win the Wii, pick a Mii from the lineup.
  • Guess the letter that corresponds to the Mii character you think I used, and leave that letter in the comments below. Choose only one.
  • Include a way for me to contact you (your blog or email) in case you win.
  • Deadline to enter is Saturday, January 24, 2009 at midnight.
  • The winner will be announced on Sunday, January 25, 2009.

Note: The winner will be chosen at random using the random.org integer generator. To receive the prize, the winning comment must correctly identify the Mii I used. If the randomly selected comment does not pick the correct Mii, I will continue drawing at random until a correct entry is chosen.

Have fun and good luck!

The cupcakes I made were inspired by a recipe in the February 2009 issue of Martha Stewart Living Magazine, a subscription my mom gifted me for Christmas. I used the one-bowl chocolate cupcake recipe—super easy and delicious. Thanks, Mom and Martha!
