This Apple Grape Almond Tuna Salad is a simple, flavorful dish that comes together in minutes. We make tuna salad regularly because it’s quick, nutritious and satisfying. Using quality canned tuna packed in water or olive oil will give you the best texture and flavor. The combination of sweet fruit, crunchy almonds and celery with a creamy dressing makes this salad a crowd-pleaser for picnics, brunches and family meals.

Napa Style Tuna Salad with Grapes

The salad shines because of the sweet, juicy grapes and crisp chopped apples. If you like extra sweetness and texture, stir in a handful of golden raisins or dried cranberries. If you have access to fresh, flavorful grapes, they really elevate the salad and give it a fresh, Napa-inspired vibe.

A great tuna salad balances savory, sweet and crunchy elements. In this recipe the flaked tuna provides the savory base, apples and grapes add sweetness, and sliced California almonds plus diced celery contribute a pleasant crunch. The lemon brightens the flavors and keeps the salad tasting fresh.

Healthy Option with Paleo-Friendly Mayo

To make this salad Paleo- or Whole30-compatible, use a compliant mayonnaise made with avocado oil or substitute a light drizzle of olive oil and a touch of Dijon mustard. Serving the salad over mixed greens instead of bread keeps it lower in carbs and makes it a nutrient-rich main course.

Scale

  • 1 cup chopped unpeeled, cored apples (Honeycrisp or Gala work well)
  • 2 — 5 oz cans tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes, halved
  • 2/3 cup paleo-friendly mayonnaise or preferred mayo
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (about the juice of half a lemon)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flaked tuna, halved grapes, chopped apples, diced celery, mayo (or Miracle Whip), sliced almonds and lemon juice. Gently toss until evenly coated.
  2. Season with salt to taste and adjust lemon or mayo if you prefer more brightness or creaminess.
  3. Chill briefly if desired, then serve over salad greens, on croissants or with crackers.

Notes

Serve this salad on mixed greens for a lighter meal, or spoon it onto toasted artisan bread or croissants for a heartier option. It also pairs well with whole grain crackers. For variety, swap in green grapes or add dried fruit for extra sweetness.
