It’s high in protein, simple to customize for different spice preferences, and built from common pantry ingredients. Add this healthy turkey chili to your regular dinner rotation.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Ground turkey: Lean ground turkey (90/10 recommended) keeps the chili hearty without excess fat and absorbs the spice blend well.
Onion: A diced white or yellow onion provides a savory base and natural sweetness as it softens.
Garlic: Fresh minced garlic adds depth and warmth—don’t be shy, it makes a big difference.
Canned beans: Kidney and pinto beans add texture, fiber, and extra protein.
Canned tomatoes: Fire-roasted diced tomatoes and crushed tomatoes form the saucy backbone, lending brightness and body.
Tomato paste: A small amount concentrates the tomato flavor so the chili tastes slow-cooked even when made quickly.
Chicken broth: Thins the chili to the preferred consistency and adds savory depth.
Seasonings: Chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, dried oregano, cayenne (to taste), salt and black pepper create a balanced, warming spice profile.
How To Make 30 Minute Turkey Chili

1. Heat a splash of olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic and sauté until softened and fragrant, about 3–4 minutes.

2. Add the ground turkey, season with salt, and cook until no longer pink, breaking it up with a spoon as it browns.

3. Stir in the diced fire-roasted tomatoes (with juices), crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, drained beans, chicken broth, and all spices. Mix well to combine.

4. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes, or until the chili reaches your preferred thickness. Taste and adjust salt, cayenne, or other seasonings as needed.

5. Serve hot with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, or jalapeños.
