Healthy and Easy Fruit Salad Recipe
Why write a post about fruit salad when it seems so straightforward? I asked myself the same thing after seeing many fruit salad posts on Pinterest. But small touches make a big difference — and a few simple tips can turn an ordinary fruit salad into something memorable.
One evening, after my husband returned exhausted from a badminton tournament, I decided to prepare a refreshing fruit salad for him. I thought it would be quick and easy, and it was — but I also paid attention to a few little details that elevated the dish.
Fruit salads are wonderfully flexible: apples, strawberries, kiwi, bananas, oranges — use whatever fruit you enjoy. The key is freshness and a balance of flavors and textures. A light dressing can tie everything together without overpowering the fruit.
Fruit Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing
The secret ingredient I tried for the first time was a poppy seed dressing. I mixed sour cream, honey, fresh orange juice, and a couple teaspoons of poppy seeds in a small bowl, then gently tossed the dressing with the chopped fruit.
The result was refreshing and slightly tangy with a pleasant crunch from the poppy seeds. My husband noticed the difference right away and commented that it tasted unlike our usual fruit salad — a welcome compliment.

Description
Poppy Seed Fruit Salad is quick to prepare and full of natural flavor. Fresh fruit tossed with a light poppy seed dressing makes a refreshing side or a simple dessert. I’ve made this countless times and it’s always a hit.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest (optional)
- 4–5 cups chopped fresh fruit (for example: strawberries, kiwi, apple, banana, orange — use any combination you like)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, honey, orange juice, poppy seeds, and lemon zest if using. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Place the chopped fruit in a large bowl. Pour the dressing over the fruit and toss gently to coat, being careful not to mash softer fruit like bananas or strawberries.
- Serve immediately or chill briefly to meld flavors. This salad is best the same day it’s made.
